Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside company that provides that search. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not retain a separate log of names or places entered into the tool.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, we may retain the message and contact details long enough to respond and maintain ordinary correspondence records. The message is not shared outside our operation unless the sender authorizes it or the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can record technical details when a page loads:
- Device IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate visit length
- Referring website, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that can remember settings and help measure how readers move through the website. Analytics data helps identify popular pages, errors, and performance issues. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
Collected data may be used for these operating purposes:
- Delivering pages and keeping the service available
- Passing a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Measuring which information readers use
- Diagnosing security, speed, and technical faults
- Displaying advertising that supports operation
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Milam County Criminal History does not assemble, maintain, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It publishes general directions to Milam County clerks, the Sheriff, Texas DPS, TDCJ, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not combined into a consumer report, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
An outside company's privacy policy applies to anything sent through its search feature. That company, not us, sets retention, pricing, processing, and disclosure practices. Review the displayed provider's terms before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Official court portals, Milam County agencies, Texas government websites, statutes, and private services have their own privacy rules. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination controls that visit. Advertising providers may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites; that processing occurs on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Search providers that process a query
- Analytics vendors that measure site use
- Advertising networks that place or report ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information under our control. No online system can be guaranteed secure in every circumstance, so absolute protection against loss, misuse, or unauthorized access cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek personal information from a child. If data from a person under 18 is identified, a valid deletion request will be addressed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may permit a person to request access, correction, deletion, or limits on some processing of personal data. The Texas Public Information Act governs public access to Texas government records, while Government Code Chapter 411 governs criminal-history dissemination and nondisclosure. Those laws concern government records and do not turn this private site into their custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask what personal information we retain
- Request correction of inaccurate retained information
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
Updates to This Policy
Practices and legal requirements can change. A revised policy will be posted here, and its new effective date will show when the version became current.
